‘Murder In Agonda’ Actor Shriya Pilgaonkar Recommends 6 Must-Watch Murder Mysteries

Revealing that murder mystery is among her favourite genres, the Mirzapur actor recommends 6 must-watch whodunits.

Actor Shriya Pilgaonkar has showcased her versatility in Fan, Beecham House, and Mirzapur. Set to have an exciting year with six releases, the excitement for her upcoming quirky whodunit Murder In Agonda intensifies with its trending teaser. The series shall witness Shriya in the role of Sarla, a forensic expert, who, unofficially lends her expertise to a high-profile murder case along with her brother Sanket. Revealing that murder mystery is among her favourite genres, the Mirzapur actor recommends six must-watch whodunits. Over to Shriya.

Here’s a list of my favourite whodunits that you can binge-watch:

Only Murderers in the Building

The entire premise is unique and full of twists with a whole lot of humour. The chemistry between Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez is so entertaining and that was the biggest takeaway for me.

Mare of Easttown

How far will we go to protect the ones we love? Kate Winslet deserves all the accolades for her brilliant portrayal of Mare. Beyond the intriguing subplots and mysterious characters, the core of this series explores complex relationships, parenthood, and forgiveness. It has an excellent ensemble cast. The pace is slow but it is brilliant filmmaking and it showcases ace performances.

Knives Out

This film is a terrific example of a modern spin on the classic genre. One of my favourites in recent times. It’s about a famous author and aging patriarch who dies by suicide or does he? Detective Benoit Blanc is hired to investigate but absolutely everyone in this family has a motive. As the story unwinds, the plot takes an unusual turn. The pay-off is great.

Sherlock Holmes

When I think of the legendary Sherlock and Dr Watson, there are only two names that come to mind – Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman, the perfect duo. Need I say more? I am obsessed with this series. It’s witty, intelligently written, with interesting cases that are just pure entertainment and elementary fun.

Murder in Agonda

Without a bias! I call it a ‘feel-good murder mystery’. It’s set in Goa, where a brother-sister duo of a cop and forensics investigator are solving a high-profile murder case. The subplots are intriguing and every character is mysterious. My character, Sarla has a beautiful backstory which we see unfolding as a parallel track. The series is quirky and I guarantee, you won’t predict the end.

Raat Akeli Hai

Featuring a terrific ensemble cast, I enjoyed Raat Akeli Hai for its pace and the sheer number of subplots in the story that makes it impossible to predict the end. Nawaz is a desi Hercule Poirot.

Shriya will be seen in the role of a lawyer in the recently announced series Guilty Minds. She is also a part of Crackdown Season 2 and a few more untitled projects.
