The tweet from 2016 was made in reference to Chris Rock making fun of Jada Pinkett Smith for boycotting the 2016 Oscars
The 94th Academy Awards have been doing the rounds on the internet and it isn’t completely for the right reasons. The event witnessed a huge controversy when Will Smith slapped comedian and host Chris Rock, live on stage, over a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s medical condition.
Will Smith apologised for his actions while accepting his Best Actor Award for King Richard, but the night was marred by the drama. During all this chaos, a tweet from 2016 has emerged from a user named Jason, who predicted today’s incident.
The Twitter user was referring to Chris Rock’s joke in 2016 when the comedian made fun of the Smith couple boycotting the Oscars. Rock was quoted as saying, “Jada boycotting…Oscars is like me boycotting Rihanna’s panties…I wasn’t invited!”
With the events from today, the six-year-old tweet has now been blowing up all over the internet. As expected, Twitter has been flooded with reactions. Here are some of our favourite ones:
