Here’s an interesting piece of development that ought to surprise 90s kids. Rap moguls Dr. Dre and LOVE aka Diddy are collaborating for a new song! The two just recorded their first track together last week, on Monday night.
The two were part of an intense rivalry back in the day, with Harlem-born 52-year-old (born Sean Combs) repping the East Coast, while the Compton-born 57-year-old (born Andre Young) being part of the West Coast. This has been documented in numerous Tupac vs The Notorious B.I.G documentaries that have ome out over the years.
But all of that seems to be a thing of the past now, with Diddy providing vocals for Dr. Dre’s fourth studio album, which Diddy described as “one of my biggest dreams finally come true.” Further adding, “’I remember the first time I heard @DrDre’s production. It gave me clear direction on the level of producer that I wanted to be,’ said the three-time Grammy winner.
Diddy’s praises didn’t end there, as the Harlem-based rapper also added, “Last night, I got the chance to work with this man and to see his genius as he coached me through vocals. He reminded me of myself, but with a different style and way more focused. I gotta step my focus up, LOL! But it was a great experience and I thank God for it. I hope one day ya’ll get to have the same experience with someone that you always looked up to as a hero.”
However, it should be noted that the duo has worked together before back in 2016, when Dre performed at Diddy’s Bad Boy Family Reunion Tour at The Forum in Inglewood. Over the years, Diddy has also been featured in Beats commercials.
The internet has been equally excited as us to see the collab unfold on the screen. Here’s how the reactions are turning out.
