In a rather upsetting bit of news, actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu has revealed that she’s been diagnosed with a rare autoimmune condition called “Myositis.” The 35-year-old shared the news on her Instagram and Twitter profile, writing –
“A few months back I was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition called Myositis. I was hoping to share this after it had gone into remission. But it is taking a little longer than I hoped. I am slowly realising that we don’t always need to put up a strong front. Accepting this vulnerability is something that I am still struggling with. The doctors are confident that I will make a complete recovery very soon. I have had good days and bad days…. physically and emotionally…. and even when it feels like I can’t handle one more day of this, somehow that moment passes. I guess it can only mean that I am one more day closer to recovery. I love you.. ♥️ THIS TOO SHALL PASS”
Myositis is an extremely rare condition which causes weakness and pain in muscles, which tend to get worse slowly over time. As per the NHS, the condition is usually caused when your immune system mistakenly attacks one’s healthy tissues. This could potentially lead to extreme fatigue, muscle ache, swallowing problems and depression among many other things.
The actress shot to mainstream Bollywood success after her appearance in Amazon Prime Video’s The Family Man 2. She was also seen on Koffee With Karan, sharing the couch with Akshay Kumar this year. Ruth Prabhu will soon be working with Philip John, the director of Downton Abbey, on a new project titled Arrangements Of Love. Apart from this, she’s set to appear in her new film Yashoda and Russo Brother’s Citadel as well.
Fans have taken to Twitter to show the actress their unyielding support. Here are some of the reactions.
