When actor Sanjay Dutt who has managed to maintain his popularity despite numerous controversies, announced earlier this week that he was taking a break due to medical reasons, fans were worried. It was later reported that he had been diagnosed with stage four lung cancer and would be seeking treatment in the US.

“I thank everyone who has expressed their well wishes for Sanju’s speedy recovery. We need all the strength and prayers to overcome this phase. There is a lot that the family has gone through in the past years but I am confident, this too shall pass,” his wife Maanyata Dutt said, in a statement.

According to India Today, the actor has Rs 735 crore riding on his future projects. In an announcement on social media, he had written, “Hi friends, I am taking a short break from work for medical treatment. My family and friends are with me and I urge my well-wishers not to worry or unnecessarily speculate. With your love and good wishes, I will be back soon.”

Dutt has Sadak 2, Torbaaz, Bhuj: The Pride of India, KGF: Chapter 2, Shamshera, and Prithviraj coming up.

While filming for Shamshera hasn’t completed, the historical drama Prithviraj was halted due to the coronavirus pandemic. Filming for KGF: Chapter 2 is almost done while Sadak 2 and Bhuj will release on Disney+ Hotstar. Torbaaz is set to release on Netflix.
