Stranger Things Season 4 Becomes Second Highest Watched Show On Netflix After Squid Game
‘Stranger Things Season 4’ Racks Up 1 Billion Views

The upcoming season might feature shorter episodes, according to the creators

The world is reeling with Stranger Things induced hangover this week. The penultimate season, which wrapped up over the weekend made us laugh, cry and run up the hill in general. And we weren’t alone in this. The Netflix series has apparently crossed 1.15 billion hours of viewing time within the first 28 days of each part’s release.

As per online reports, the first seven episodes racked up a viewing time of 930.32 million hours within 28 days of its debut. Meanwhile, episodes 8 and 9, which were released over the weekend have now crossed 221 million hours of views. The most surprising part of this, however, is that it still ranks behind Squid Game, which crossed 1.65 billion hours viewed within the first 28 days of its release.

But putting the numbers aside, the Duffer brothers have also confirmed a few interesting developments about the upcoming season. We already know that season 5 will conclude the show’s storyline. However, the way it wraps itself up might be interesting to some of you out there.

While speaking to Collider, the Duffer bros confirmed that they’ll be cutting down on the movie-length run times of the episode. Explaining the decision, Matt said, “I think we’re aiming for eight again. We don’t want it to be 13 hours. We’re aiming for more like 10 hours or something. I think it’s going to be longer than Season 1 because we just have so much to wrap up, but I don’t think it’s going to be as long as Season 4.”

But not all episodes seem to be receiving this treatment. Speaking about the ending itself, they compared the series finale to a 3-hour long feature-length film, specifically referencing The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.

“It’s going to be Return of the King-ish with eight endings,” Matt added half-jokingly. “If you just watch Return of the King, it feels like too many endings. If you watch all of them back-to-back, which I’ve done multiple times, it’s exactly right. If it were any shorter, it would feel cheap and wrong.”
