Twitter Claims Amber Heard's Testimony Was Lifted From 'The Talented Mr Ripley'
Twitter Claims Amber Heard’s Testimony Against Johnny Depp Was Lifted From A 1999 Movie

The claims were later debunked by an international publication

The Johnny Depp and Amber Heard courtroom drama hit a new height last Friday when many alleged that Heard was “performing for the jury” when she took the stand. Twitter users claimed that Amber Heard’s testimony against Depp was copied verbatim from the 1999 film The Talented Mr Ripley.

In the movie, which stars Matt Damon, Jude Law, and Gwyneth Paltrow, Marge (Paltrow’s) character talks about Dickie (played by Law) to Ripley (played by Damon) and says, “The thing with Dickie…it’s like sun shines on you, and it’s glorious. And then he forgets you and it’s very, very cold. When you have his attention, you feel like you’re the only person in the world, that’s why everybody loves him so much.”

Users pointed out that Amber Heard’s testimony had the exact same lines but she just substituted ‘Dickie’ with ‘Johnny’. While the claims quickly started spreading on the social media site, fact-checking websites like Snopes and Newsweek soon debunked the rumours claiming that “those phrases were not spoken during testimony”

But the story doesn’t end there. According to the internet, one of Heard’s statements claimed, “When I was around Johnny I felt like the most beautiful person in the world — then he would disappear,” this is similar to the line used in the film, while not being a verbatim copy.

Although, it should be noted that the quote came from Amber Heard’s lawyer while making an opening statement, and not Heard herself.
