Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul’s Upcoming Netflix Fight Has Already Raked In Rs 500 Crore

Is Mike Tyson risking his life for money?

The much-anticipated fight between the legendary boxer Mike Tyson and the Youtuber-turned-pugilist Jake Paul is set to be staged on November 15, at the AT&T Stadium in Texas. Although there has been a lot of skepticism about Tyson—who’s old and frail and suffering from sciatica—returning to the ring, the hype for the fight is only escalating as we get closer to the date. The battle, which had originally been scheduled for July 15, had to be postponed after Tyson's ulcer flared up, thus raising more concerns about his safety. If you combine the money both fighthers are going to receive, it would add up to over $500 crore.

Tyson vs Paul: Know All The Rules

The majority boxing clashes regulated in the United States allow the fighter to wear 10-ounce gloves. But for the clash between Paul and Tyson, the Texas Department of Regulation and Licensing (TDLR), has permitted the use of 14-ounce gloves. Instead of the usual three-minute rounds, Paul vs Tyson will last for eight rounds of two minutes each. Paul's request of ten three-minute rounds for this fight was denied by the American pugilist.

Tyson always wanted a two-minute round for more entertainment, and the shorter timeframe would allow him to expend less energy and recover quickly. Four years ago, Tyson fought against Roy Jones Jr for over eight rounds, and the match ended in a draw.

How Much Money Will Mike Tyson Make?

Tyson, in his professional career, has lost only six matches ever, and all his victories have been knockouts. He became the youngest heavyweight champion at 20, beating Trevor Berbick in 1986. A year later, he would be crowned the undisputed champion. Tyson is 58 and this fight could very well prove to be fatalistic. But the money involved is just too much for Tyson to ignore. In his heydays, he was worth $400 million, but he blew it and filed for bankruptcy in 2003.

Tyson, however, bounced back from the precarity and founded a marijuana company that made $150 million in revenue last year. Irrespective of the result, Tyson will be walking out with $20 million from this fight.

How Much Will Jake Paul Take Home?

Paul is a rising star in the combat sport, and his enthusiasm about fighting Tyson is very evident from his remarks. "People are always going to have something to say, it's because I've proved everyone wrong. I'm here to make history, I'm here for a challenge and I'm here to fight one of the most dangerous men in boxing," said Paul on the eve of the trailer launch of this fight. Paul, who is now moving towards pro-boxing, will be earning $60 million from this fight that he is most likely to win. However, even a defeat won’t haamper the hefty amount he’d be taking home.
