The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the annual contract list for 2024-25, comprising 34 cricketers across four categories. While the names in the top Grade A+ category have remained unchanged, there is no dearth of new entrants, and also the comeback of star players who missed out last year. Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, Rohit Sharma, and Jasprit Bumrah make up the Grade A+ category, for which they will be receiving a remuneration of ₹7 crore each. Although Kohli, Rohit, and Jadeja have retired from T20I, they remain vital cogs of the team in the other two formats.
Meanwhile, in Grade A, Rishabh Pant replaced R Ashwin, who bid adieu to Test cricket earlier this year. Pant was previously pooled in Grade B, but his performance in the last year or so earned him a promotion. Despite not featuring in Champions Trophy triumph, Pant remains in the scheme of things across formats. Mohammed Siraj, KL Rahul, Shubman Gill, Hardik Pandya and Mohammed Shami are other names in the Grade A contract.
Shreyas Iyer, who lost out on a contract last year for missing domestic cricket, is back on the list, earning a Grade B contract for his consistent performance in the Champions Trophy. Likewise, Kishan too secured a Grade C contract, after being snubbed last year.
Things get interesting in the Grade C list, which is full of fresh faces. Nitish Kumar Reddy, Abhishek Sharma, Akash Deep, Harshit Rana, Sarfaraz Khan, and Varun Chakaravarthy earned their maiden BCCI contract.
