We always knew that this was one of the sweetest love stories in India, and it’s heartening to see that the wedding that we’ve all been waiting for has happened. Neither Virat nor Anushka made an official announcement, but when it comes to celebrities as big as them, things can’t just be hidden under the carpet. And leading film magazine Filmfare reported that the ceremony happened in Italy this morning.
Earlier this year, the couple had appeared in an endearing Manyavar ad, where they are guests at a wedding. Virat held his own as an actor beside Anushka, and left us all gushing.
A lot of trolls did have a problem with their relationship, and some of them would blame Anushka Sharma for Virat’s poor performance. Virat always defended her, and in a recent interview even credited her for bringing about a positive change in him.
“I’ve learnt a lot, become more sensible in the last 4 years all because of her. She’s taught me how to be more patient and taught me how to utilise the position you are in to the fullest,” the Indian skipper said in an interview with Gaurav Kapur for Breakfast with Champions.
“Luckily I have never tried to change myself over the years. But the flip has been because of her. That period in England in 2014. Anushka was there in my life, she understood what I was going through so she kept me motivated,” he added.
The couple has always given us relationship goals, with both of them complementing each other really well. It’s not the first cricketer-actress pairing (MAK Pataudi-Sharmila Tagore, Yuvraj Singh-Hazel Keech, Zaheer Khan-Sagarika Ghatge, are other names that come to mind.)
In an Instagram post, Virat Kohli had said that with a lady love like Anushka, every day was like a Valentine’s Day.
We wish the couple a very happy married life, and hope that their career reaches new heights. Or at least they continue to keep themselves at the peak, if reaching bigger heights is too much to ask for.
