These players saw their earnings taking a massive blow, because franchises were not willing to splurge massive fortune on them.

For every Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer, two of the biggest earners, there are a dozen of players who see their income taking a massive hit. We look at five illustrious players who will be taking the biggest pay cut in IPL 2025.

From Glenn Maxwell to Mitchell Starc: These Players Saw Their Price Drop Significantly

Glenn Maxwell left Punjab Kings three years ago to join Royal Challengers Bangalore at a whopping price of ₹11 crore. He single-handedly won them a few games in his first season, but failed to show up this year, often getting out for a cheap total. Bangalore released him for the IPL auction, where he was acquired by Punjab Kings for ₹4.2 crore, a steep dip in his valuation.

Spencer Johnson - Gujarat Titans

Price Drop: ₹10 crore to ₹2.8 crore

Spencer Johnson is one of the most sought-after pacers in the shortest format of the game, and he was snapped up by Gujarat Titans for ₹10 crore. But the speedster didn't get enough chance to prove himself, and this year his value dropped to ₹2 crore. He was acquired by the Kolkata Knight Riders as they needed an overseas fast bowler after releasing Mitchell Starc.

Sameer Rizvi - Delhi Capitals

Price Drop: ₹8.4 crore to ₹95 lakh

Sameer Rizvi, once considered a high-value player in the IPL, saw a drastic decrease in his salary from ₹8.4 crore to ₹95 lakh in the 2025 auction. Chennai Super Kings didn't show any interest in bidding for Rizvi, and he was snapped at a modest price by Delhi Capitals. Rizvi's performance in the previous season was not up to the mark, leading to this significant drop in his value. However, this could serve as motivation for Rizvi to prove his worth and make a strong comeback in the upcoming season.

Mitchell Starc - Delhi Capitals

Price Drop: ₹24.75 crore to ₹11.75 crore

Mitchell Starc, an Australian fast bowler, also experienced a substantial decrease in his salary from ₹24.75 crore that Kolkata Knight Riders paid last year. His form was unsatisfactory. Delhi Capitals acquired the services of the marquee player for just ₹11.75 crore. Despite being a seasoned player with a solid track record, he failed to generate much excitement among bidders.

Sam Curran - Chennai Super Kings

Price Drop: ₹18.5 crore to ₹2.4 crore

Sam Curran, a talented all-rounder, witnessed a significant drop in his salary. He was acquired by Punjab Kings for a record-breaking price of ₹18.5 crore last year, but the all-rounder failed to register any significant performance with either bat or ball. Chennai Super Kings bought him for a mere ₹2.4 crore this time.
