Netflix has released the trailer for Taylor Swift’s documentary ‘Miss Americana.’ The documentary gives the fans a sneak peek in the life of the famous pop star. The new trailer for “Miss Americana” was released by the streaming service on Wednesday, giving Swift’s loyal fan base the first look at the highly anticipated project.
The preview of the film opens with Swift preparing for her 2019 VMA performance, giving herself a pep talk before the show and making sarcastic remarks such as “no one hates her in the audiences”, followed by her experience of growing up in the music industry. It also focused on the singer breaking her political silence and becoming vocal about important topics like the election and discrimination. Swift navigates criticism and negative press throughout her career and eventually comes to terms with being herself in the public eye.
She says: “Throughout my whole career, label executives would say, ‘A nice girl doesn’t force their opinions on people. A nice girl smiles and waves and says thank you.’ I became the person everyone wanted me to be.”
“Nobody physically saw me for a year, and that was what I thought they wanted,” Swift says in the trailer. Due to the intense level of attention and criticism she received from the media in her adolescence, Swift admitted that she hid away for an entire year because she believed that was what the world wanted.
In an official statement, Netflix said that “Miss Americana sees Swift, 30, throughout the last decade as she “embraced her role as a songwriter and performer — and as a woman harnessing the full power of her voice.”
The documentary is directed by Emmy award-winning director Lana Wilson. It will be released on January 31 in select theaters and on Netflix.
