2022 Samsung Galaxy Unpacked: Galaxy Fold 4 To Galaxy Watch Pro 5
From Samsung Galaxy Fold 4 To The All-New Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, 5 Unveils At Galaxy Unpacked Event

Samsung’s biggest annual event had some exciting unveils and launch announcements

Samsung’s August Galaxy Unpacked event is now its biggest annual showcase for its top-of-the line products including the Fold and Flip foldables. According to a report by research firm Omdia, Samsung accounted for 88% of all foldable smartphones sold in 2022. The category hit 11.5 million units in global sales in 2021 with Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 3 alone accounting for over half of all global sales. Foldables continue to grow at a rapid pace and Samsung is the clear market leader. It’s one reason why this event has assumed significance. This year, Samsung announced a new Fold, a new Flip, upgraded smartwatches and a fresh take on its Galaxy Buds Pro earbuds. The company also announced that it’s using more recycled materials in its 2022 product line-up. Here’s all you need to know:

New Selfie tricks and a better battery solution:

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 wasn’t just our favourite foldable of 2021, it remains one of the best foldable phones we’ve ever checked out. The Samsung Z Flip 4 might look similar to its 2021 sibling but it comes with a whole bunch of improvements. Aside from the annual processor upgrade (this one’s powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1), this one also features a more robust 3700mAh battery under the hood. Samsung has also added fast charging – 0 to 50% in 30 minutes, to the mix. But it’s the new FlexCam with new selfie previews that might be the Z Flip 4’s biggest party trick. (Global launch price: USD 999 onwards)

Slimmer with a stellar cam

The new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 is a hair thinner and about 8g lighter than its 2021 predecessor. Samsung hasn’t altered the design much with the Fold too. The big change is the rear cam. The 2022 Fold comes with a 50MP primary lens that elevates its camera game compared to Z Fold 3. It’s also one of the first devices to ship with Google’s Android 12L specifically designed for larger screens. It adds to the muti-tasking abilities of the Fold 4. (Global launch price: USD 1,799 onwards)

Cool new design

The Galaxy Buds Pro remain our favourite Samsung buds in terms of audio performance. The all-new Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro feature a new compact, ergonomic design that is 15% smaller than the Buds Pro. The new secured fit is engineered to prevent rotation and offers better ANC (Active noise cancellation). It’s the new 24-bit Hi-Fi audio that we’re most excited about. (Global launch price: USD 229.99 onwards)

Check your temperature on your wrist

Last year Samsung showed off its BioActive Sensor on the Galaxy 4 wearables. This sensor also tracked BMI (Body mass index). This year Samsung takes it further with the new temperature sensor on the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 and Watch 5 Pro smartwatches. The temperature sensor uses infrared technology for more accurate readings, even if the temperature of your surroundings changes. The new Galaxy Watch 5 twins also boast of a better battery performance than the 2021 wearables. (Global launch price: USD 279.99 onwards)
