Assassin's Creed Mirage Teaser Trailer Dropped; The Franchise To Go Back To Its Roots
‘Assassin’s Creed: Mirage’ Dials Back The Clock To Ninth-Century Baghdad

The company also made several other announcements, including a mobile game

After playing as a Viking, a pirate, and everything else apart from a full-fledged Assassin, it seems like Ubisoft is taking the popular franchise to its roots. Over the weekend, the Montreal-based developer dropped the teaser trailer for Assassin’s Creed: Mirage, set in 9th-century Baghdad. Playing Basim, the game will be based two decades before the events of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.

What’s more notable though, is that the series appears to be going back to being a parkour-induced action-adventure RPG element, which was sadly missed in the recent games. In case you’ve seen the trailer, you may have noticed a familiar voice. In an inspired bit of casting, Shohreh Aghdashloo will voice the role of Basim’s mentor. The actress has famously worked on shows like 24, Grey’s Anatomy, and movies like Star Trek Beyond, along with Percy Jackson: Sea Of Monsters.

With Mirage set to debut in 2023, the company also made several big announcements regarding the future of Assassin’s Creed. This includes an all-new mobile game dubbed “Jade,” which will be based in ancient China, where yes, you can parkour across the Great Wall. Additionally, the developer is also working on a live-action series on the franchise, along with developing an unnamed mobile title for the streaming giant’s gaming service.

As far as its Triple-A titles are concerned, reports tell us that following Mirage, the Assassins Creed universe will take us to feudal-era Japan, with a yet unnamed game (codenamed Red). Then, there’s also another codenamed “Hexe” title in the works, which is based on witches. We’re going to keep an eye on both as more details emerge.

Until then, here’s how the internet has reacted to the trailer.
