Netflix confirmed that it will be releasing a live-action series of the popular gaming franchise Assassin’s Creed. But, is that such a good idea? We’re skeptical.

Here’s why:

Netflix Might Be Over-confident

The Witcher was probably the only game adaptation that tasted success and pleased both fans and critics. You could even add Castlevania to that list. So, it’s natural for Netflix to take this momentum and adapt other popular games. But, Assassin’s Creed (AC) can be an extremely tricky game, thanks to its storyline and characters. Netflix is also adapting Resident Evil, which we are also skeptical about, but not as much as AC.

Casting

Casting needs to be given utmost importance here. AC fans have had problems before with voice actors who didn’t do a good job (*coughs* Odyssey *coughs*). We still don’t have news on the casting, but we sure as hell hope Netflix picks the right actors who can portray an iconic Assassin on screen.

Choosing The Right Storyline

If you’ve played all the AC games, you understand how complicated and confusing it can all get. And let’s be real, the current AC games have terrible storylines that are just lazy and unsatisfying. If Netflix plans to adopt a game storyline which is already strong, like Black Flag, or even Unity, we’ll be interested.

We Saw What Happened With The Assassin’s Creed Movie

Remember 2016’s Assassin’s Creed film with Michael Fassbender? We understand if you tried to repress that memory, because that movie was unbearably atrocious. And some of us were actually optimistic about it. We’ve been hurt before, so we’re just scared to be hurt again.

First, Let’s Fix The Assassin’s Creed Games

This message isn’t for Netflix, but for Ubisoft. Instead of running to the bank with your Netflix money, maybe spend some time giving equal importance to the AC games. You know, the ones that actually helped make Ubisoft what it is today? Odyssey, Origins, and the new Valhalla games are so forgettable, and  are far away from the AC games we love. So, Ubisoft, fix the games first.
