After years of chasing polish, Samsung has finally decided to stop chasing and simply deliver. At Galaxy Unpacked in Brooklyn today, the company dropped three new foldable phones—the Galaxy Z Fold7, Z Flip7 and Z Flip7 FE—alongside the Watch8 series, in what feels like its most focused and functional launch in a long time.
This isn’t a reboot. It’s Samsung betting on maturity. These devices aren’t trying to prove that foldables can work. They just do. With competition catching up and in some cases pushing ahead on specs and design, Samsung seems less interested in spectacle this time. Instead, it has gone back to the blueprint and tightened everything up.
Z Fold7: Lighter, Sharper, Built for Actual Use
The Fold7 isn’t trying to be clever. It’s just lighter, slimmer and better put together. At 215 grams, it’s now lighter than even the Galaxy S25 Ultra and 24 grams lighter than the Fold6. Folded, it measures 8.9mm. Unfolded, 4.2mm. Numbers that don’t just sound good on paper but actually feel better in hand.
Samsung has made smart material upgrades: Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 on the cover screen, Victus 2 on the back, and a stronger Armor FlexHinge framed in aluminium. It still sits at IP48 for water and dust resistance. Same as before. Nothing groundbreaking, but enough for daily use.
The internal display grows to 8 inches, while the cover screen stretches to a more usable 6.5 inches with a 21:9 aspect ratio. The under-display selfie camera is gone. Replaced by a proper punch-hole 10MP shooter. Around the back, the main sensor gets bumped up to 200MP, joining a familiar supporting cast: 12MP ultrawide, 10MP 3x telephoto and a second 10MP selfie cam on the cover.
Inside, it’s powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy, with RAM up to 16GB and storage up to 1TB. Battery remains at 4,400mAh with 25W wired charging. Nothing flashy, but steady where it counts.
Z Flip7: Finally, a Flip That Feels Finished
The Flip7 is where the design upgrades really show. It's 6.5mm when unfolded, thinner than a pencil if you're counting, and fits a larger 6.9-inch display inside. But the big move is on the outside. The new 4.1-inch FlexWindow wraps around the cameras and finally makes the cover screen feel like part of the experience, not an afterthought.
Performance gets a bump thanks to Samsung’s in-house Exynos 2500 processor, paired with 12GB RAM and up to 512GB storage. There’s a 4,300mAh battery inside, which is the largest ever on a Flip. Cameras are in line with its foldable sibling: a 50MP main, 12MP ultrawide and a 10MP front camera.
It shares the same IP48 rating, Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and aluminium build. Like the Fold, it’s not here to win design awards. It just works better now.
Z Flip7 FE: The Entry Point That Finally Makes Sense
Alongside the headline devices, Samsung quietly launched the Z Flip7 FE, its most accessible foldable yet. Starting at ₹89,999, it repackages last year’s Flip6 with a few tweaks: the Exynos 2400 chip, a slightly smaller 4,000mAh battery and modest finish updates. It's clearly positioned as the gateway drug to the world of foldables, and for once, the price makes it tempting.
Watch8 Series: No Reinvention, Just Better Tracking
Not to be left out, the Watch8 series rounds out the launch with a sharper focus on health and daily wear. There’s no design gimmickry here. Just a thinner profile, upgraded sensors and deeper health insights from sleep and stress to antioxidant levels and cardiovascular load.
It’s also the first Galaxy Watch to come out of the box with Gemini, Google’s AI assistant. Voice-led tasks, reminders, search and navigation now happen straight from your wrist. No phone needed. A small but meaningful step toward hands-free utility.
The Watch8 series starts at ₹32,990.
