Why Retro Ruled The Sports Summer

You can never get wrong with retro

Everything, in fashion, is cyclical. Everything that seems on the verge of obsoletion always remains on the verge, never looking down in the giant well where the past remains buried, but looking up for a perfect moment to make a comeback. The vintage tracksuit, from the yore of 80s and 90s, made its comeback a while ago, but the trend doesn't seem to be stopping anytime soon. The 2024 edition of the Euros was a perfect example. Teams love sartorial experiments, but they also know there's a risk associated with experiments: boom or bust. But you can't get wrong with wearing nostalgia on the sleeves.

Nostalgia wields a formidable influence on individuals, as evidenced by the findings that sports enthusiasts are willing to splurge on reliving eras in which they never even existed. Furthermore, teams are adept at capitalizing on and marketing a sense of nostalgia that may not even align with their own historical narrative. Spain and France showed how athleisure doesn't always have to be tight and sticky; it can be baggy and still be fashionable. The alliance of Joma and Ukraine gave us a classic yellow-and-blue collection that looked straight out of the eighties. Look at some of the most striking retro fits:
