The French brand is taking a step ahead in beauty with the launch of its first ever makeup line for men. “For Chanel, beauty is not a matter of gender; it is a matter of style.”, says Kristine Kim, PR/Communications Manager for Chanel. Defying gender norms is no news when it comes to Chanel since the revolutionary Coco Chanel was a pioneer in normalizing jerseys for women. Similar is the case with men’s grooming as makeup seems like a fairly newer territory to venture into.
The collection launches with tinted foundations in eight shades with SPF 25, eyebrow pencils, and a matte lip balm. Though the range is limited to just eight shades considering the array of options for women, we can totally imagine people queuing up for a bottle of their own. The brand has actor Lee Dong-wook is the face of the campaign and will soon add two more names to the list.
The daily quest to hide imperfections or just enhance one’s features through makeup is something most women have been a part of and most men have stayed aloof to. It’s about time that the power of makeup is bestowed on men and their grooming regime. Afterall trimming one’s nails or applying wax is not all there is when it comes to men’s grooming. Products like these surely help break a few misconceptions about makeup. Boy De Chanel launches on September 1st in South Korea and will subsequently release internationally.
