With the possibility of another wave of Covid-19 hitting India soon, efforts to stimulate the COVID-19 immunisation campaign in the country is growing rapidly. However, during the administration of the same in Bihar, a health centre in Bihar’s Arwal district discovered strange irregularities in its vaccination data making it a huge fraud data case. Names such as Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, Amitabh Bachchan, and Priyanka Chopra, among others, emerged from its portal which suggested that they got vaccinated in Bihar.

Akshay Kumar and Rahul Gandhi were also administered their vaccines in Karpi, Bihar, according to this fraudulent data. This fraud case has raised questions about the credibility of the data which has also resulted in the state health department checking the data entries of other health facilities as well.
Bihar Health Minister Mangal Pandey spoke to NDTV and stated, “I have spoken to the district magistrate and the chief medical officer and asked them to also look at data of other hospitals in the hospitals to ensure there are no errors. If there are, those responsible will be punished as per law. We take this very seriously, if more such cases come to light, action will be taken.” He added that not only has the administration taken strict action against the culprits, but there will also be legal action against them too.
District Magistrate J Priyadarshini also reacted to the scandal, saying, “This is a very serious matter. We are trying so hard to ramp up testing and vaccination and then such irregularities are happening. Not just in Karpi, we will look at all healthcare centres. An FIR will be lodged, we will take action and set a standard. Two operators have been removed, but I am of the opinion that others must also be probed.” Two computer operators working on the Covid-19 vaccination data have been suspended after this.
Interestingly, this is not the only discrepancy in the data. The Health Minister was also questioned about another occurrence of data fraud in Patna. In this case, people who had arrived at the vaccination centres to receive their second jab, were informed that they have already gotten both the doses. Responding to the claim, the minister iterated, “These are technical matters. We cannot leave the scope for errors in this system. If you make an error, you will face action.”
