Tanishq Ad Again Faces Backlash For Its Progressive Diwali Message
It’s hardly been a month since Tanishq pulled its festive ad after the negative reactions it received. Now, the brand is once again under scrutiny from upset Indians for their latest Diwali ad.
The latest Tanishq ad was released on social media to celebrate the festival of Diwali. It featured prominent actresses like Neena Gupta, Nimrat Kaur, Sayani Gupta and Alaya F. In the short video, Sayani Gupta happens to share her feelings towards Diwali, and suggested that we shouldn’t use firecrackers. “I’m hoping to meet my mom after really long, definitely not firecrackers. I don’t think anybody should light any firecrackers, but lot of diyas,” Gupta says in the ad.

But a few netizens saw that as unnecessary advice, even though the government themselves have officially placed restrictions on fireworks this year.
BJP National General Secretary C.T. Ravi tweeted: “Why should anyone advise Hindus how to celebrate Our Festivals? Companies must focus on selling their products, not lecture us to refrain from bursting Crackers.”

Why should anyone advice Hindus how to celebrate Our Festivals?
Companies must focus on selling their products, not lecture us to refrain from bursting Crackers.
We will light lamps, distribute sweets and burst green crackers. Please join us. You will understand Ekatvam. https://t.co/EfmNNDXWFD

Who is #tanishq to advice Hindus as how to celebrate diwali. Keep your advice to yourself and apply the same for your cheap publicity campaign.
I request you all to #boycotttanishq

In the middle of it all, Sayani Gupta debunked a fake tweet that was being circulated to malign her name.
