While there are many who Instagram and snapchat themselves during World Environment Day and visit Versova beach once in a while during the cleanup, the sad reality is that their civic duty and contributions seem to only last till the picture has been taken and shared. It is not an uncommon occurrence to see people throw cigarettes, plastic covers and strips of paper out of their car windows on to the roads.

Virat Kohli shared an Instagram video where actress Anushka Sharma can be seen reprimanding a man in a car for throwing plastic on the road.

“Why are you throwing garbage on the road?” Anushka asked the man who appears to feign ignorance. He then seems to signal towards a white object in his hands, presumably a box of cigarettes.

“Please be careful, you can’t just throw plastic around like that on the streets – use a dustbin,” she adds.

“Travelling in a luxury car and brains gone for a toss. These people will keep our country clean? Yeah right!!! (sic)” Kohli writes in the caption. He also urges people to speak out and say something if they see something wrong happening.
