This month of love, you can go ahead and name a cockroach after your ex. Yes, you read that right. You can now name a creepy crawler in honour of another one, your ex, this Valentines’ Day.
San Antonio Zoo is giving an opportunity to scorned lovers to give a fitting name to a cockroach (no offence to the bug). For just $5, you can pick a roach and give it the name of your ex-man, which will be fed to a bird, reptile or mammal. It’s part of the zoo’s “Cry Me a Cockroach” event on Valentines’ Day.
For $20, you can upgrade from roach to a rat. You can take an upgrade and ask the zookeepers feed a frozen rat. The zoo also offers the zoo offers a $5 herbivore option that consists of romaine lettuce, cabbage and other leafy greens that can be fed to vegetarian animals.
The zoo is planning to live-stream the event on Facebook. You will even receive a certificate to share on social media. If you wish to go for it, you have time till February 13 to register on the zoo’s website. Only first names will be displayed during the event. The money raised from the “Cry Me A Cockroach” event will go towards expanding the zoo’s jaguar habitat with a connected overhead catwalk.
Another zoo, Brookfield Zoo is also offering a similar deal. For a $15 donation, you can name one of the Madagascar hissing cockroaches that live in the Hamill Family Play Zoo after that un-special someone in your life. The “Name a Cockroach” package includes a certificate of naming that can either be shared with the recipient or kept for yourself and placement on the Cockroach Naming Hall.
Happy Valentines’ Day!
