There has been a massive surge of cricket podcasts. While cricket fanatics teaming up to start a podcast was common during the pandemic, not everyone could come up with content that was interesting. Here’s a list of five cricket podcasts that are actually worth your time:

1. The CricViz Cricket Podcast

A podcast that is at forefront of the data revolution in cricket. Hosted by Ben Jones, The CricViz Cricket Podcast covers all your T20 thirsts, with its army of number crunchers providing amazing insights to the listeners. Ahead of the ICC 2021 World Cup, these guys previewed the Indian team and made case for Dinesh Karthik to play the role of finisher.

Freddie Wilde, the editorial head of Cricviz, also works as an analyst for Royal Challengers Bangalore. Wilde convinced the franchise to invest in Karthik, and the wicket-keeper batter repaid the faith.

2. The Guerilla Cricket Podcast

Guerilla Cricket combines Monty Python-esque humour with profundity and bizarre trivia. A very diverse lineup featuring actors, comedians, academics, writers, and broadcasters, they also take a deep interest in exploring the structural aspects of the game. They also provide ball-by-ball commentary for England matches, and it’s far more entertaining than the commentary feed that comes on your television.

3. Cricket, Et Cetera By Haigh & Lalor

Gideon Haigh, for decades, has been a pride of cricket literature, and his words are music to the ears. Haigh sits down with his The Australian’s colleague Peter Lalor, another influential cricket writer, and both of them talk about the issue pertinent to Australian cricket. They don’t simply talk but inform. Haigh’s new book is on Dan Christian, one of the few aborigines to wear baggy green, and it was the subject of discussion in the latest episode.

4. 81 All Out

Hosted by Siddhartha Vaidyanathan, 81 All Out is a podcast focused on Indian cricket. In the latest episode, the former India bowling coach Bharat Arun breaks down the complex mechanics of fast bowling in layman’s terms and explains how there’s a daylight gap between thinking and executing the same on the pitch.

5. The Grade Cricketer Podcast

In the words of one of the hosts of this show, “You’ll see a 35-year-old bank manager who is sledging a 15-year-old and you think, ‘That’s just what you do in grade cricket.” An apt description of the podcast that has gained cult status on the internet. They are quite unapologetic, frank, and most importantly, very funny.
