In a recent video shared by the Rajasthan Royals IPL team on Twitter, leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal narrated a ridiculous story from 2013 — one that possibly carries some serious implications of player misconduct within the IPL.

The video features Chahal, and his teammates Karun Nair and Ravichandran Ashwin, who got together to narrate their ‘comeback stories’ to fans.

In the conversation that ensued, Yuzvendra Chahal opened up about an old incident that he claims “not many people know about.” The incident in question happened during his 2013 stint with the Mumbai Indians, when a drunk player from the team dangled him from a balcony.

“My story, some people know about. I have never spoken about this, I never shared this,” he said to Ashwin and Nair. “In 2013, I was with the Mumbai Indians. We had a match in Bengaluru. There was a get together after that. There was a player who was very drunk; I will not take his name. He was very drunk; he was looking at me and he just called me. He took me outside and he dangled me from the balcony.”

“My hands were around him. Had I lost my grip, I was on the 15th floor. Suddenly many people who were there came and got the situation under control. I kind of fainted. They gave me water, then I realized how responsible you should be if you go out anywhere. So, this was one incident where I felt I made a narrow escape. Had there been the slightest mistake, I would have fallen down.”

Chahal’s scare back in 2013 also coincided with his very short run with the Mumbai Indians team. After just one wicketless season, the Haryanvi player packed his bags and joined Royal Challengers Bangalore, where he shone as one of its most successful bowlers for over eight years, taking 139 wickets in the process.

Several fans were dumbfounded at Chahal’s revelation. Several questioned the severe lack of accountability within the team:

Others quickly consulted the MI 2013 roster, trying to figure out the identity of the drunk player in question:

Currently, Chahal’s stint with Rajasthan Royals has been promising, with 4 points placing them at third place on the table, only losing one game against his old team, RCB.
