In 2017, as many as 1 million shoes were sold by adidas that were made out of ocean plastic. Adidas has now revealed a SS18 Parley edition of UltraBoost and UltraBoost X which have been inspired by the shades of the oceans.

The association with Parley goes back to 2015, which is the time since when adidas has been trying to end marine plastic pollution and raise awareness for the cause. These products are made with upcycled plastic waste that are intercepted from coastal communities and beaches before they reach the ocean.

That is why each pair of UltraBoost and UltraBoost X prevents 11 bottles from entering the oceans.

“The custom, one-piece, two-tone knitted upper is made partially using recycled Parley Ocean Plastic while the outsole and molded heel counter also uses recycled materials,” reads an adidas press release.
