Diesel has launched its Spring/Summer 2022 collection, which reflects a bold and deep hybridisation of the high-fashion denim brand’s trailblazing history and Glenn Martens’ high-concept approach to fashion design. The result firmly carves out the next chapter in DIESEL’s evolution, balancing popular appeal, clever design, and, most of all, an uncompromising vision.

The SS’22 collection sets the design tone and emphasises on the Diesel DNA in a modern way, with a new branding, where the Italian brand’s D logo will now be seen across all categories. I suppose, the brand wishes to revisit its core, which has historically focussed on high-quality clothing, functionality, and timeless pieces while keeping individual style and seasonal trends in mind. Creative Director, Martens said, “The power of Diesel is that we talk to so many people. We can push sustainability and innovation, and we can push experimentation and concept.”

Here are some of the highlights from Diesel’s Spring/Summer 2022 collection:

Prototype: Footwear

THE PROTOTYPE was first seen on the SS’22 runway film. It pushes the limits of athletic footwear design, breaking aesthetic and technical conventions with every component and angle. The sneaker is characterised by repeated rubber straps and asymmetric lacing. In addition to the bias-angled textured rubber strips and the off-centre lace-ups, it features an industrial outsole tread and moulded rubber overlays across its uppers.

New IT bag: The 1DR Bag

A new it-bag for women — the 1DR Bag — features a rounded ‘D’ logo on a lacquered metal plaque, and is available in seven bright colours. It has created a buzz in the international market and immediately became a wardrobe staple for celebrities. It comes in leather and a mixed canvas style with coordinated keychains and wallets. One can reverse the handle upside-down when used as a crossbody bag.

Track denim: the updated version of JoggJeans fabric

In SS22 they celebrate yet another key asset of Diesel in denim — JoggJeans. The old JoggJeans fabric is repurposed into a modern and updated version, in the form of track denim. Its core features are flexibility and comfort, and a perfect purchase for streetwear enthusiasts.

The collection is now available to shop online and in-stores.
