There’s been an alarming increase in the number of robberies concerning celebrities and their luxury watches, with some being dangerous
Recently, we’ve seen a slew of reports on watch robberies taking place, and the target mainly has been sportspeople. From F1 driver Charles Leclerc’s $430k Richard Mille to professional boxer Amir Khan’s £72,000 Franck Muller Vanguard Chronograph, a number of luxury watches have been swiped.
Here are a few details on who’s lost what:
Ferrari racing driver Charles Leclerc’s $430k Richard Mille was stolen while interacting with his fans ahead of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. It has been reported that Leclerc was with his friends and trainer Andrea Ferrari in the Tuscan city of Viareggio for Easter celebrations when a group of fans surrounded the champion.
The stolen Richard Mille RM 67-02 is valued at over $300k.
Strangely, Leclerc’s incident is not the first instance of a Richard Mille watch being stolen from an F1 driver. Back in 2020, McLaren’s Lando Norris had his prototype Richard Mille watch stolen outside Wembley Stadium after the Euro 2020 final. The watch in question was a limited-edition model in blue and orange colours, valued north of $100,000.
Another recent victim of watch theft is professional boxer Amir Khan. He was robbed off his £72,000 diamond-encrusted Franck Muller Vanguard Chronograph at gun-point when he was out with his wife Faryal Makhdoom in East London. The 35-year-old announced the theft in a tweet where he described the entire scene.
