The luxury watch brand, which is the official timekeeper of the games, this month will launch three special edition watches to celebrate the occasion
Omega has been part of 29 editions of the modern Olympic games since 1932 as the Official Timekeeper. And this month’s Tokyo Olympics is no different. The luxury watchmaker will be present in the Japanese capital with 400 tonnes of equipment to keep time and measure the performance of each of the nearly 11,500 athletes who will participate across over 339 events in 33 sports spread over 50 disciplines. From motion sensor tags on runners that will provide live speed, acceleration, deceleration, and distance, and image tracking cameras that will record similar information at the swimming competition to the pioneering Pose Detection system that will be used in the adjudication of gymnastics, Omega will employ the most modern technologies that exist currently at the games. The luxury brand is also launching three special edition watches to celebrate its participation at the 32nd Olympiad.
