TAG Heuer has unveiled its latest timepieces in the Carrera Extreme Sport series, merging its long-standing motorsport heritage with advanced materials and innovative design. These watches, which build on the acclaimed 2016 collection, bring a fresh take on the brand’s racing-inspired roots, delivering robust performance with a bold aesthetic. For motorsport enthusiasts and watch collectors alike, the new models—the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Extreme Sport and the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon Extreme Sport—are built to make a statement on both the track and the wrist.

In terms of design, the case construction is where TAG Heuer’s craftsmanship truly shines. Both the chronograph and tourbillon models are housed in a 44mm case made from a combination of grade-2 titanium, ceramic, and forged carbon. The material choice ensures durability without compromising on weight, making these watches ideal for extreme sports enthusiasts. The cases feature a hollowed structure with a sandblasted finish on the side, evoking a sleek and dynamic feel that echoes the fast-paced world of motorsport. The ceramic bezel—matte black with tachymeter markings—adds a technical edge, while the sapphire crystal protects the dial with its anti-reflective coating.
Moving to the dial, TAG Heuer has opted for a skeletonised design, which gives a peek into the mechanical inner workings of the watch. The dial’s layout enhances legibility, with bold, rhodium-plated indexes and Super-LumiNova® ensuring visibility even in low-light conditions. The chronograph models come in various colourways, with some featuring vibrant orange or blue accents that further strengthen the racing connection. The open-worked date disc adds another layer of depth, mimicking the mechanics of a high-powered engine—an apt detail for this motorsport-inspired timepiece.
One of the stand-out features of this collection is its use of cutting-edge materials and ergonomic design. The incorporation of lightweight yet durable titanium and ceramic, along with the fine detailing on the bezel, reinforces the watch's sporty character. The chronographs are offered in several versions, including models with solid 18K rose gold barrels and gold-plated components, which provide a luxurious contrast to the more technical titanium elements. These details elevate the aesthetic while maintaining the watch’s utilitarian edge.

Inside, the watches are powered by TAG Heuer’s in-house calibre movements. The chronographs feature the TH20-00 movement, offering an impressive 80-hour power reserve and a 5-year extended warranty, underlining the brand’s commitment to precision and reliability. The tourbillon models, on the other hand, house the 2023-launched TH20-09 calibre, which heralded the Carrera's 60th anniversary with a bi-directional automatic rewinding system and the brand's signature shield-shaped rotor, along with a 65-hour power reserve. These movements are displayed via the open caseback, where enthusiasts can admire the laser-engraved checkered pattern and coloured column wheel.

Completing the look is an integrated rubber strap, designed for comfort and durability. The strap takes its inspiration from racing car air intake systems and is available in various colours to match the dial accents, ensuring a cohesive and sport-ready design. The folding clasp, crafted from titanium with double safety push-buttons, adds a secure and ergonomic finish.
