This week, Aprilia brought the RS 457 to our shores, unveiled by none other than Maverick Vinales. While we are still waiting for the official price announcements, here are the top alternatives to the supersport that you can consider. All prices are ex-showroom.

Kawasaki Ninja 400 (Rs 5.24 lakh)Team Green’s parallel-twin motorcycle scores almost perfectly, except for its eye-watering price tag. Nonetheless, the Ninja 400 looks every bit like a Ninja, with a ZX-10R-inspired design and a 399cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin motor that can produce 45PS of power.

KTM RC 390 (Rs 3.18 lakh)If anyone can give Aprilia a run for its money, it has to be the RC 390 today. Priced competitively, the KTM features a 373cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor that generates nearly 44PS of power and 37Nm of torque. Not to mention, we might see a new and improved version of the RC making its debut soon.

Yamaha YZF-R3 (TBD)Perhaps you might have to wait a bit longer for this one, but the upcoming Yamaha R3 is worth the patience. Packing a 321cc inline-twin motor, the R3 produces a respectable 2PS and 29.6Nm of torque and looks like its bigger sibling, the Yamaha R1.

TVS Apache RR310 (Rs 2.72 lakh)While the TVS may not exactly scratch your supersport itch, it will still give you the feeling of being on one. Powered by a 312.7cc reverse-inclined single-cylinder motor, it makes 34PS and 27.3Nm.
