Indian cuisine finds itself on the global map yet again, with Britain’s uber-popular Indian fine-dining restaurant Gymkhana having earned its second Michelin star earlier this week. While India doesn’t boast of a Michelin-star restaurant as yet, here are some desi restaurants that achieved the distinction globally.

Benares, London Atul Kochhar has left an indelible mark in London’s gastronomical space with Benaras, with his progressive approach towards cooking, seamlessly fusing British and Indian cuisine. Additionally, the sprawling interiors and being strategically located on the bustling Berkeley Sq., Mayfair, adds to the restaurant’s popularity.

The Golden Peacock, MacauThis contemporary Indian restaurant at The Venetian goes the extra mile to offer patrons an authentic slice of India. The interiors are replete with copper, glass, screens and Sadeli mosaics. Scrumptious, filling, and cosy are what’s best used to describe the expansive traditional Indian fare, with the menu curated by a Kerala chef.
