Hyundai’s Ioniq 5 Can Now Be Booked In India For Rs 1 Lakh

Hyundai Motors has finally unveiled its flagship EV, the Ioniq 5 in India today. While we await the price announcement, bookings of the all-electric offering are officially open for Rs 1 lakh.

Starting with the design, the Ioniq 5 ditches the modern rounded-off hatchback design in favour of a boxier theme.

The squared LED headlamps and tail lamps, and the visible cuts and creases all over its bodywork and the large 20-inch alloy wheels inside flared wheel arches. reaffirm the same.

Things are minimal on the inside, with twin screens taking the centre stage. The cabin is designed withpracticality in mind, with a conventional glove box being replaced by a glove draw.

Similarly, the rear seats are adjustable for sliding and reclining, along with the aforementioned centre console, which is also adjustable for movement.

The feature list on the Ioniq 5 is quite lengthy. The main highlights here include dual-zone climate control, a heads-up display, a solar roof (optional), wireless phone charging, ambient lighting, ADAS Level 2 & more.

Based on Hyundai’s E-GMP architecture, the EV is offered in two variants internationally – Standard and a Long-Range option, with a single and dual motor on both.

Power figures here range from 170PS and 350Nm for the standard RWD variant to 305PS and 605Nm for the Long-Range AWD trim. The latter offers a range of 631km, while the standard offers around 480km.

Speaking of battery and range, Hyundai claims the EV can be charged from 0 to 90 per cent in 18 minutes, with a 350kW DC fast charger. As per reports, Hyundai might slap a hefty Rs 50 lakh price tag on the Ioniq 5, facing competition from the Volvo XC40 Recharge.
