First Look: The New Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650

Royal Enfield has just unveiled the Super Meteor 650 today at the EICMA 2022 in Milan, Italy, revealing three variants called the Astral, Celestial and Interstellar.

Set to officially launch tomorrow at an expected price of Rs. 3-3.5 lakhs, let's take a closer look at Royal Enfield's latest attempt at crafting a comfortable, stylish mile-muncher.

DesignThe Super Meteor gets alloy wheels with fat  tyres, a tear drop-shaped fuel tank, a fat rear fender and halogen turn  indicators a wide handlebar and forward-set foot pegs. There's also seven colourways available – Astral Black, Astral Blue, Astral Green, Interstellar Grey and Interstellar Green, Celestial Red and Celestial Blue.

SpecsThe bike will likely be equipped with upside down front forks - a first for any Royal Enfield motorcycle. The engine in the Super Meteor 650 will be a a 648cc, fuel-injected, parallel-twin motor that is air-oil cooled that produces 47 hp of max power and 52 Nm of peak torque. It comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a slip-and-assist clutch.

Instruments/AccessoriesWith a major focus on touring, the Super Meteor comes equipped with the Tripper Navigation System, and an-all new single-dial cluster. The 'Super Tourer' package also comes with new bar end mirrors, deluxe footpeg, solo finisher, LED indicators and machined wheels.

RivalsThe Super Meteor 650 sits in a unique place within India's touring motorcycle market – offering a host of exciting features at an ultra-competitive price point. While considerably more expensive, it's expected that the new RE twin will compete against the Benelli 502c and the Kawasaki Vulcan.
