The year-long anticipation has finally ended. Yamaha India has officially launched the 2023 R3 for Rs 4.65 lakh and the MT-03 for Rs 4.60 lakh (both, ex-showroom). Unofficial bookings for both motorcycles began as early as April, with deliveries expected to begin early next year.

The R3 and MT-03 feature the same 321cc twin-cylinder engine. While both motorcycles deliver an equal power output of 42PS, the R3 produces slightly less torque at 29.5Nm, whereas the MT-03 boasts 29.6Nm of torque.

In terms of underpinnings, both the motorcycles remain unchanged, with inverted fork, monoshock and disc brakes handling suspension and braking.

Both models have arrived via the Completely Knocked Down (CKD) route, resulting in pricing that edges a bit closer to discomfort. While the R3 prioritizes sportier ergonomics, the MT-03 is anticipated to provide greater comfort due to its streetfighter stance.

Nevertheless, if you're considering more affordable alternatives, both the Triumph Speed 400 and the KTM RC 390 present compelling options.
