This Independence Day, Mahindra pulled the covers off the BE 6 Batman Edition, an all-electric SUV finished in satin black with gold accents, bat insignias on every surface, and welcome animations straight out of Nolan’s Gotham. Bookings opened on August 23, with deliveries timed for September 20, better known as International Batman Day. But Mahindra isn’t breaking new ground here. Carmakers and bikemakers have been mining pop culture for years, turning movie props into production runs and giving fans a chance to park their obsession in the driveway. Here’s a list of 14 of the most memorable movie-inspired cars and motorcycles that actually made it to the real world.
1. Mahindra BE6 Batman Edition
India’s freshest entry into the canon. Matte black, gold trim, bat emblems on the hub caps and roof, themed welcome animations — and all built on the BE 6’s electric platform with a 79 kWh battery. Limited to 300 units, with deliveries tied to International Batman Day.
2. Hyundai Kona Iron Man Edition
Matte grey and red accents that scream Stark Industries, complete with arc-reactor graphics, Iron Man mask motifs, and Tony Stark’s signature on the dash. A full Marvel tie-in sold globally in limited numbers.
3. Land Rover Defender V8 Bond Edition
Built by SV Bespoke to celebrate No Time To Die, with a stealth black spec, 22-inch wheels, and 007 puddle lamps. Instantly collectible.
4. Aston Martin DB5 Goldfinger Continuation
Twenty-five continuation cars built at Newport Pagnell with Q-branch gadgets intact: smoke screens, revolving plates, battering rams. An £3.3m homage you can actually drive.
5. Porsche 911 “Sally Special”
One-off Carrera GTS styled after Pixar’s Sally Carrera from Cars. Auctioned for charity at RM Sotheby’s, fetching $3.6 million, with Pixar-approved details and even a matching watch.
6. Ford Mustang Bullitt
A Highland Green, de-badged Mustang with more grunt than the standard GT. A rolling tribute to McQueen’s Bullitt chase that basically birthed modern car culture.
7. Rolls-Royce Phantom Goldfinger
The actual Phantom III that appeared in Goldfinger, later sold as a Bond holy relic. Provenance doesn’t get better.
8. Jeep Renegade Dawn of Justice Edition
Gloss-black, 18-inch alloys, Gotham-dark interior, and special badging for Batman v Superman. A small SUV styled for brooding commutes.
9. Nissan Rogue “Rogue One” Star Wars Limited Edition
Around 5,000 units sold in the U.S. with Star Wars badging and design cues. Each came with a full-size Death Trooper helmet — now a collector’s grail.
10. Hyundai Tucson The Walking Dead Edition
Faction-based graphics, unique trim, and a branded “Survival Kit.” The most tongue-in-cheek apocalypse crossover ever sold.
11. TVS Ntorq 125 Super Squad Edition
Marvel tie-in scooters in India, themed after Iron Man, Black Panther, Spider-Man and Captain America, each with unique liveries and SmartXonnect UI tweaks. TVS keeps updating the lineup.
12. Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RR Bond Edition
Only 60 units made, featuring a gun-barrel graphic in the cockpit, gold pinstriping, and an official 007 bike cover. Pure Bond worship on two wheels.
13. Mr. Bean’s Mini
Not a factory collab but a TV-made legend. The lime-green Mini 1000 with a padlocked door and black bonnet was so iconic it effectively became Rowan Atkinson’s co-star. Multiple versions were used across the series, one even restored for display at the National Motor Museum.
14. Chevrolet Camaro “Bumblebee” Transformers Edition
GM leveraged Transformers to revive the Camaro nameplate. The on-screen star began as a re-bodied Pontiac GTO chassis for the first movie, then morphed into the production Camaro. By 2010, buyers could get the Transformers Special Edition package: Rally Yellow paint, black stripes, Autobot shields on fenders and wheels, embroidered console, branded sill plates, and around 1,900 units sold.
