Scramblers weren’t born in a boardroom. They were hacked together in muddy British backyards in the 1920s by maniacs who looked at a rocky hill and thought, “Yeah, I can ride over that.” The idea was beautifully simple: strip the bike down to its bare bones, shave off every unnecessary gram, and make it nimble enough to blitz through dirt, gravel, grass, rocks or basically anything that wasn’t smooth tarmac. Speed was the goal. Everything else was optional.
Some say a race commentator once yelled “Scramble on!” as riders launched into the chaos, and just like that, a genre got its name. Maybe true, maybe just pub talk, but the name stuck.
Fast forward a few decades and Scramblers have gone from underground rebel builds to showroom staples. Everyone wants in. From Triumph to Ducati to Royal Enfield, if you're not offering a Scrambler or something vaguely pretending to be one, what are you even doing? With BSA now teasing the new Bantam 350, here’s a no-nonsense look at all the Scramblers you can actually buy in India right now.
Keeway SR125
Price: ₹1.23 lakh
Don’t expect wheelies in the woods. This is a basic 125cc with retro vibes and a commuter heart. But for new riders or anyone with a tight budget and a soft spot for chrome, it’s not a terrible place to start.
Keeway SR250
Price: ₹1.52 lakh
Same retro kit, slightly bigger lungs. The 223cc engine delivers 16 bhp, which won’t break any land speed records but works fine for slow Sunday rambles. Think of it as aesthetic over aggression.
Royal Enfield Scram 411
Price: ₹2.08 lakh
Take the Himalayan, chop off some of its trekking gear and slap on a paint job that says “urban rebel.” The 411cc long-stroke single is built for abuse, though don’t expect corner-carving finesse.
Yezdi Scrambler
Price: ₹2.12 lakh
One of the few bikes here that takes the word ‘scrambler’ seriously. 334cc, 28.7 bhp, and dual-purpose tyres give it actual off-road ambition. Suspension's stiff, but the exhaust note makes up for it.
Honda CB350RS
Price: ₹2.15 lakh
More café than chaos. Yes, it’s got the dual-tone paint and upswept tail, but underneath it’s the smooth, polite Honda CB350. Good road manners, but this one’s more about vibes than actual scrambling.
Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450
Price: ₹2.39 lakh
The newest RE on the block. Built on the Himalayan 450 platform but with stripped-down styling and city-focused ergonomics. You still get 40 bhp and that torque-rich engine, but in a more digestible, road-ready form.
Triumph Scrambler 400 X
Price: ₹2.67 lakh
The only real scrambler under ₹3 lakh that looks like it was born to fly over logs. Built on the Speed 400 platform but longer, taller and tougher. 398cc, 39.5 bhp, and a chassis that’s actually been tuned for trails.
Triumph Scrambler 400 XC
Price: ₹2.94 lakh
Slightly posher sibling of the X. Gets adjustable suspension, more travel and better off-road kit. Basically a great all-rounder if your weekend rides include broken roads and no roads.
Zontes GK350
Price: ₹3.47 lakh
Oddball alert. It looks like a Scrambler had a baby with a café racer from Blade Runner. 348cc, 38.2 bhp and tonnes of features like keyless ignition and TFT display. Purely road-focused but looks wild.
Royal Enfield Bear 650
Price: ₹3.46 lakh
Technically not a scrambler but RE’s custom kits let you turn this into a beefy retro dirt-flinger. Twin-cylinder grunt with 46.4 bhp and a low-slung attitude that’s surprisingly playful when setup right.
Benelli Leoncino 500
Price: ₹4.99 lakh
Leoncino means “little lion” in Italian, and this one’s got a big heart. 500cc parallel-twin, 46 bhp, USD forks and enough presence to draw attention at every signal. Mild off-road capability but big on style.
Brixton Crossfire 500 XC
Price: ₹5.19 lakh
Austrians playing hipster. The XC version gets knobbies, taller suspension and the looks of a scrambler actually meant to be flogged. 486cc, 47.6 bhp and a 19-inch front wheel say yes to dirt.
Moto Morini Seiemmezzo Scrambler
Price: ₹5.20 lakh
Ignore the unpronounceable name. This 649cc Italian twin is a looker, with 54 bhp and KYB suspension. A street scrambler through and through but one of the most polished offerings on this list.
Brixton Cromwell 1200
Price: ₹7.84 lakh
Looks like a British museum exhibit, rides like a torque monster. 1222cc, 82.5 bhp and 108 Nm of torque give it cruiser performance in a scrambler shell. Too pretty to drop, but it’ll turn heads for days.
Triumph Scrambler 900
Price: ₹9.59 lakh
Air-cooled charm with proper off-road geometry. 900cc, 64 bhp, ride-by-wire and switchable ABS. It’s not the fastest, but it’s soulful and surprisingly capable when the tarmac ends.
Ducati Scrambler Series
Price: ₹9.96 lakh to ₹12 lakh
From the Icon to the Full Throttle and Nightshift, Ducati’s got a Scrambler for every kind of poser and purist. 803cc L-twin with 73 bhp, feather-light clutch and that signature Ducati crackle. Pricey, but pure fun.
Triumph Scrambler 1200 X
Price: ₹11.83 lakh
The king. 1200cc, 89 bhp and built to tear up sand, rocks and your monthly savings. Big suspension travel, dedicated off-road modes and the poise of a rally weapon in heritage clothing. The real deal.
