Aamir Khan – Bollywood’s most socially conscious actor has just gone ahead and bought himself a brand new Bajaj V – a swanky new commuter motorcycle manufactured by Bajaj. The Dhoom 3 actor, previously seen riding significantly more powerful motorcycles has bought the V for a very special reason – all the models contain metal from India’s first aircraft carrier – the INS Vikrant.

The INS Vikrant’s enormous contributions during the 1971 Indo-Pakistan war make it a national treasure, much like what Aamir’s contributions to the world of arts make him. When Bajaj Auto MD Rajiv Bajaj got wind of the fact that Aamir wished to purchase the bike, he decided to customise it for the actor with the logo from Aamir’s production house emblazoned upon the bike’s fuel tank. Curiously enough, the nickname ‘Chotey Lal’ was also stuck to the back of the motorcycle.

Pretty chuffed about owning a piece of history, Aamir said “The V is a special bike and I wouldn’t compare it with anything else. It has a piece of history ingrained into it. For me it’s a proud moment to own a piece of metal from INS Vikrant which was the military pride of India for decades.”
