Not many have heard of Benelli in India, but the motorcycle brand has a history going back over 100 years. Like many big ideas, it too took shape in a garage, in 1911, the brainchild of six brothers in the Benelli family. In the racing arena, the brand has over 1000 victories to its name, and some of the greatest motorcycle racers have ridden for the team. As of today, you can buy one of these bikes in India.
In association with DSK Motowheels, which also sells the Hyosung brand of motorcycles in India, the Benelli range was launched today in Mumbai; a network of nine dealerships in the major metro cities was also announced. Five different motorcycles, ranging in capacity from 300cc to 1131cc, were announced:
TNT 300 at Rs 2.83 lakh
TNT 600 i at Rs 5.15 lakh
TNT 600 GT at Rs 5.62 lakh
TNT 899 at Rs 9.48 lakh
TNT 1130 R at Rs 11.81 lakh
These are quite competitive prices (all ex-showroom Delhi), considering the competition – the key questions here are those of long-term reliability and the after-sales experience. Nevertheless, it’s heartening to see the premium motorcycle segment seeing new additions in India, and since more power is never enough, we say bring them on.
