The Ferrari SUV will lock horns against the Lamborghini Urus, Audi RS Q8, and the Porsche Cayenne
Ferrari and an SUV? We never thought we’d use the two words together in a sentence before. That’s how we initially felt about the Lamborghini Urus, and look how that turned out. But if the leaked images are to go by, the SUV with the Prancing Horse badge may actually wow the sceptics.
Called the ‘Purosangue,’ the Ferrari SUV has been in the work for a long time. It has been spotted with heavy camouflage. Now, however, clear images of the SUV have surfaced online in all its glory, and let’s just say it looks awfully similar to the Ferrari SF90 Stradale.
At the front, the front grille is placed quite low, and is flanked by air drams. Then there are the iconic split headlights, which looks like it’s taken from the bin of the SF90 Stradale. Bringing in the SUV element in the ‘Purosangue are the big wheel arches.
But what’s under the hood? Ferrari has been keeping things pretty hush-hush for now. According to reports, it may get a 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 hybrid mill, which produces 830hp of power. This is the same motor seen on the Ferrari 296 GTB. However, we do wish the folks at Maranello could also put a V12 motor in the SUV sometime in the future.
About when we can see it in showrooms, the Ferrari Purosangue looks production-ready, apart from obvious finishing touches. If we had to speculate, we’d count on a global unveil by the end of 2022 and a launch in 2023.
Once launched, the Ferrari Purosangue will lock horns against the Lamborghini Urus, Audi RS Q8, and the Porsche Cayenne.
