Not all police cars are Crown Vics and hatchbacks. Around the world, some forces have taken their pursuit vehicles to outrageous extremes—from Italy’s Lamborghini Huracáns to Japan’s GT-Rs and now Dubai’s Mansory-tuned Rolls-Royce Cullinan.
While most officers settle for practicality, these departments went full throttle on style, speed, and symbolism. Here’s a look at the most audacious police cars ever built:
Dubai Police – Mansory Rolls-Royce Cullinan
Estimated at over ₹5 crore, this bespoke new Cullinan is anything but discreet. Modded by German tuning house Mansory, it features aggressive carbon bodywork, a boosted 610 hp engine, and a lavish interior. It was unveiled at the Arabian Travel Market as part of the city's green-liveried tourist police fleet. Its primary function? Making headlines.
Abu Dhabi Police – Lykan Hypersport
This ₹27 crore hypercar is one of only seven ever made. Built by W Motors, it features diamond-encrusted headlights, a 3.7-litre twin-turbo flat-six engine, and a top speed of 245 km/h. A rare unicorn with both cinematic and street cred.
Italy – Lamborghini Urus Performante
Donated in 2024, the Urus Performante is no ordinary patrol SUV. Outfitted with a defibrillator, gun cabinet, and organ transport fridge, it combines Lamborghini's 657 hp performance with life-saving functionality. Valued at around ₹4.2 crore.
Italy – Lamborghini Huracán LP610-4
Used by Italian police since 2015, this ₹4 crore supercar isn’t just for show. It’s equipped for emergency medical deliveries and traffic enforcement, reaching 100 km/h in just over 3 seconds. Practicality, Italian style.
Japan – Lexus LC500
Gifted by Lexus executive Kazuo Nakamura, this ₹1.3 crore naturally aspirated V8 cruiser is more than a beauty queen. Finished in classic black and white police livery, it’s deployed for highway patrol in Tochigi Prefecture.
Netherlands – Spyker C8 Spyder
This Dutch-built sports car is as eccentric as they come. Powered by an Audi-sourced 4.2L V8, the Spyker C8 is all leather-and-aluminium opulence, complete with scissor doors. Briefly served in Flevoland province and cost around ₹1 crore.
Germany/Netherlands – Porsche 911
While Germany made the 911 famous in patrol use, the Netherlands had its own legacy with the car. In the '60s and '70s, Dutch Rijkspolitie officers used open-top Porsche 911 Targas—painted white with orange stripes and no roof—for highway enforcement. These were agile, responsive, and iconic enough to become collector favourites today. Throughout the '90s and early 2000s, the Autobahn patrols included multiple Porsche 911 variants. Fast, reliable, and dripping with German engineering, they were ideal for keeping pace with speed demons. Average price: ₹1.5 crore.
USA – Dodge Viper GTS (Indiana State Police)
Though primarily a PR car, this V10 monster made a strong visual statement in full police livery. Capable of beyond 650 hp and worth over ₹1 crore at the time, it was a powerful deterrent to any would-be racer.
Japan – Nissan GT-R (Tochigi Prefecture)
A proper street weapon. With 565 hp and advanced AWD tech, this ₹1.8 crore icon is still one of the fastest accelerating police cars on public roads.
UK – Lotus Evora GT410 Sport
This lightweight British coupe (loaned to Devon and Cornwall Police) was used to promote safe driving. But make no mistake—its 410 hp output and sub-4-second 0–100 time meant it could catch more than just attention. Market price: around ₹1 crore.
Australia – Kia Stinger GT S
Australia’s modern answer to the defunct Holden Commodore. The criminally-underrated Stinger GT, with its 365 hp twin-turbo V6 and RWD layout, offers performance and practicality in equal measure. Estimated cost: ₹45 lakh.
UK – Ariel Atom PL
A rocket with wheels. The Atom, stripped of roof and doors, was used in promotional campaigns to discourage illegal street racing. Weighing under 600 kg and valued around ₹75 lakh, it offered mind-bending acceleration.
USA – Tesla Model S (Fremont PD)
California’s Fremont Police became one of the first to trial the Model S as a patrol vehicle. While outfitting it with law enforcement tech proved tricky, the car’s instant torque and environmental benefits marked a turning point—even though it did have range anxiety issues. Price tag: around ₹1 crore.
Japan – Nissan 370Z (Tokyo Police)
Introduced in 2016, Tokyo’s 370Z units blend style and speed. These V6-powered coupes are deployed for expressway patrol, offering a sleeker alternative to traditional cruisers. Price: around ₹46 lakh.
Italy – Ferrari 250 GTE (1963)
An actual service vehicle in Rome during the '60s, this vintage Ferrari was driven by specially trained officers. With only a handful made, one of these now-retired cars is worth an eye-watering ₹80 crore.
UK – Ford RS200
Born from Group B rally madness, the RS200 never officially patrolled but was famously photographed in full police livery. Mid-engined, four-wheel drive, and turbocharged, it was valued around ₹1 crore at its peak.
Australia – Honda Civic Type R (NSW Police)
Used more for awareness campaigns than high-speed chases, the Civic Type R is quick, agile, and distinctly not your average cruiser. Current gen prices hover around ₹47 lakh.
Germany – BMW i8 Polizei
A hybrid sports coupe with space-age looks. Though largely ceremonial, the i8 served as a symbol of sustainable policing in the Czech Republic. Market value at launch: ₹2.1 crore.
UK – Ford Mustang GT (Humberside Police)
The V8 Mustang was briefly trialled in the UK, complete with police livery and flashing lights. More of a nod to heritage and community engagement, but no less dramatic for it. Price: around ₹71 lakh.
