5 Premium Electric Motorcycles That Get The Heart Revving

Harley-Davidson recently unveiled an all-new electric offering, the LiveWire S2 Mulholland

The all-electric mobility trend seems to be sprinting in a singular direction, especially when it comes to two-wheelers, with the number of e-scooters being inversely proportional to electric motorcycles. While designing one comes with its own set of challenges, a few have appeared to have at least gotten the ball rolling, case in point is the second iteration from Harley-Davidson LiveWire, the S2 Mulholland. Packing a claimed city range of 195km and a top speed of 160kmph, here’s how it competes both domestically and internationally.

Designed by the Bengaluru-based electric startup, Ultraviolette, the F77, as its name suggests, borrows many design cues from fighter jets. Backing up all those credentials is India’s biggest battery (29kW) on a two-wheeler, which gives us a range of nearly 307km of IDC (Indian Driving Cycle) range. We’ve spent some time with the F77; head on here for our detailed impressions.

The one that started it all. While you may no longer be able to buy it in India, the LiveWire was initially launched to blend classic Harley designs with a sustainable twist, giving us a rather interesting glimpse into the future. While it is capable of covering 235 kilometres on a single charge, it may not be the ideal choice for distances beyond 153 kilometres of true range. Nonetheless, LiveWire riders are drawn to its power, as the motor enables a 0-100kmph time of three seconds.

Zero SR

Zero describes its SR as 'effortless', echoed further by its subtle design, enough power and more. Packing a 17.3kWh battery pack, the Zero SR churns out 113PS of power and a claimed range of 283kms in the City. Zero’s official website has also listed its highway efficiency figures, with the range dropping down to 188km on a single charge.

Damon Hypersport

200 appears to be the number for the Damon Hypersport. Built for riders who are used to ICE crotch-rockets, this motorcycle claims to make 200PS of power, and 200Nm of torque with a (claimed) range of 200 miles (322 kilometres) while reaching a top speed of 200mph (322kmph). But there's more to the Damon Hypersport than just speed and distance—it also leverages technology to create a co-pilot experience. The company refers to it as a sixth sense, which utilizes predictive AI to scan the roads around it. Additionally, when the view is clear, the SHIFT system adjusts the rider to the optimal position for speed.

Energica Experia

Perhaps an odd choice on the list, the Energica Experia earns the spot owing to what it's able to achieve, building an ADV electric motorcycle. Packing a 22.5 kWh battery pack, the Experia somehow manages to deliver an ADV-like range of a whopping 420 kilometres (claimed) on a single charge. If that’s not enough, the company claims it can also carry 112 litres of stored items and comes with two USB ports, to charge your devices on the go.
