This Week in Auto: Seven Launches and One Big Corporate Power Move

Facelifts, fresh badges, unexpected comebacks and a bold business twist — the Indian auto scene just dropped a lot in seven days

If you blinked this week, you probably missed a bike launch, an MPV trying to cosplay as an SUV, and Bajaj low-key saving KTM from bankruptcy. Whether you're into EVs with subwoofers or scooters with Dakar dreams, the Indian auto market had something to say. Here's your quick and curated breakdown of the most important launches and moves — because this week didn’t idle.

Indian Auto Weekly: Big Launches, Bold Moves, and a Corporate Rescue Mission

Kia Carens Clavis Launched At ₹11.50 Lakh

Think of it as the Carens that cleaned up, hit the gym and got a better wardrobe. The Clavis is basically a facelift, but with premium ambitions. There’s a full-width light bar, EV5-style headlights, chunkier cladding, bigger 17-inch wheels and de-chromed handles. It looks more SUV now, and that’s clearly the point.

Bajaj Steps In, Saves KTM Just Before Deadline Drama

Just a day before KTM risked being pushed into insolvency for missing a €548 million debt deadline, Bajaj Auto announced it’s taking over operations. A bold move with big implications. Bajaj already owns a 48% stake in KTM’s parent company — now it might just become the orange brand’s lifeline. Europe’s loss, Pune’s power play.

Tata Altroz Facelift Launched At ₹6.89 lakh

Tata added a sunroof, AMT and DCT options, and shuffled some trims around. The facelift brings subtle visual updates, keeps all three powertrains (petrol, diesel, CNG), and quietly ups the price by ₹24,000. It’s still one of the sharpest looking hatchbacks under ₹10 lakh — now with a bit more flair.

Kawasaki Versys-X 300: Back From the Dead, Again

Priced at ₹3.80 lakh (ex-showroom)

Same engine, same frame, new graphics. Kawasaki brought back the adventure tourer that quietly vanished years ago. It’s now OBD2-compliant and wears a blue-and-white paint job to show for it. Still a CBU, still basic in features, still costs more than the more powerful KTM 390 Adventure. But hey — twin-cylinder touring is its flex.

MG Windsor Exclusive Pro Gets A Price Tag Of ₹17.25 lakh

MG gave the Windsor EV a mid-range twist. You still get the larger 52.9kWh battery pack (449km range), but for ₹85K less than the top-spec Essence Pro. Add in a 9-speaker Infinity system, ambient lighting and dual-tone interiors — and you’ve got a plush EV for less money. Clever packaging is very on-brand for MG.

Honda X-ADV Maxi-Scooter Launched At ₹11.90 lakh

The weirdest (and possibly coolest) launch this week. Honda dropped a maxi-scooter with a 745cc engine, DCT gearbox, blocky tyres and 820mm seat height. It's half scooter, half ADV bike, all niche. If you’ve ever wanted to commute and trail-blaze on the same ride, this is for you. Or for that one guy who lives in Bandra and dreams of Borneo.

Mahindra Bolero Bold Edition Launched At ₹10.02 lakh

No mechanical changes here. Just a dealer-level accessories pack worth ₹20-40K that throws in dark chrome, black inserts, new upholstery and sill plates. It’s available across all variants and gives the no-nonsense Bolero a bit of SUV swagger — or at least the visual hint of it.

Honda Rebel 500 Makes Its India Debut At ₹5.12 lakh

Honda’s 500cc bobber finally makes its way to India via the CBU route. It’s not cheap, but it undercuts rivals like the Kawasaki Eliminator 500 while offering a refined, low-slung cruiser experience. Twin-cylinder engine, 6-speed gearbox, 16-inch wheels and very un-RE vibes. For the rider who prefers poetry to pistons.
