Karan Johar might be a master of film-making, but when it comes to cooking, the director is as good as his twins. Johar appeared on the latest episode of Discovery Plus’ new show, Star Vs Food, and while struggling to cook a meal, revealed that he has not even cut an onion before in his life.

During the episode, Johar is tasked to lay out a delicious spread for his glamourous friends from the industry including stars like Seema Khan, Mrunal Thakur and Saiyami Kher. He teams up with Chef Lakhan of the modern Japanese restaurant Mizu for the task, and enter the kitchen, a place he barely visits.

The duo decides to make Katsu curry and some sushi for the guest, and after much stalling and trying to get rid of all the work, Johar finally put his head in the game. While cooking the meal, the film-maker confesses that he is not even aware of “how to start any kitchen appliance.” He points at the huge vessels kept in front of him and says, “Feel like these are missiles about to attack me. I have never chopped onion in my entire life.” However, after much hard work, the two save the day and prepare a nice meal for their guest.

Johar had earlier shared a glimpse of the episode on his Instagram as well. He captioned the video saying, “I showed my kids this video and it gave me so much joy to see their reaction. Turns out they enjoy watching me cook more than they enjoy my cooking, and that’s one of the reasons I did this because I knew it would make them happy. And right now in this world, seeing all the sad news and everything that’s happening… We all need to find whatever that brings us joy, and I hope you find yours.”

“Stay home, stay safe. Ps – This was shot sometime back, and I’m glad I got to sharpen my culinary skills well before the lockdown under the guidance of one of Mumbai’s finest chefs – @samurai_cook. PPS – After @kareenakapoorkhan, I can’t wait to see how @malaikaaroraofficial @arjunkapoor @pratikgandhiofficial fare donning that chef’s hat on @discoveryplusIN’s #StarVsFood,” Karan Johar added.
