Ballon D’or is the ultimate dream of any football player. France Football crowns the best football player for that calendar year, and that person is known to be the Ballon D’or winner for that year. We will be looking at the most realistic candidates for this prestigious award.

1) Kylian Mbappe (PSG)
Kylian Mbappe has had an outstanding season full of goals and assists for both club and country. He has also won one of the domestic cups for his club. The Ligue 1 title and Coupe de France (French Domestic Cup) are yet to be decided. If PSG wins both of these trophies, then Mbappe will have an excellent chance of becoming the Ballon d’Or. With the Euros coming in the summer and France starting as favorites. Mbappe’s case will be boosted if France manages to win the tournament.
2) Lionel Messi (Barcelona)
Arguably the greatest player of all time. The winner of this fantastic award for a record six times. Messi has had a brilliant if not better season, full of goals and assists. After all the transfer saga he had been through, it was standard service resumed for him. Barcelona is well in the close La Liga title race and has already won Copa Del Rey (Spanish Domestic Cup). If Barcelona wins the title, Messi would be backing himself to win the prize ahead of everyone and be the first one to win it for a record seven times.
3) Ruben Dias (Manchester City)
We could have gone for numerous other Manchester City players for this position, but we have gone with a special one. Ruben Dias has arguably been the signing of the summer. He has been a rock and has formed a solid partnership with John Stones in the middle of the defense. The kind of influence he has had on the team has been truly magnificent and has made City’s shaky defense solid. With City, already the champions of England and the Carabao Cup, Ruben can further bolster his claim for the award with the addition of the Uefa Champions League title and potentially the Euros this summer.
4) Cristiano Ronaldo (Juventus)
If we are talking about the Ballon d’Or, we must speak about Cristiano Ronaldo. He has won this award five times, and he was the youngest to win this award when he won in 2008 when he was at Manchester United. This year has been a very topsy-turvy one for him. His performances have been excellent, scoring truckloads of goals and assisting a lot. But it’s the team performances that would matter in the end. His team, Juventus, has had a torrid season up until now. They lost the Serie A for the first time in ten years, and they were kicked out of the champions league by FC Porto in the early rounds of the knockout stage. If he wins the Euros and the Coppa Italia, then he might have a serious chance of winning the Ballon d’Or
5) Kevin De Bruyne
Kevin De Bruyne has had a fantastic season, assisting as he used to, and he has added goals to his repertoire of skills. His team, Manchester City, has had a tremendous season and is in the champions league final against Chelsea, where they are favorites to win. If he can continue this form in euros as well, and somehow Belgium manages to win the euros, Kevin might have a great shot at winning the most prominent individual prize of them all.
All five candidates are the best at what they do. They have certainly improved and shown their class over the years. The other nominees that might be considered as well are: –
1) Robert Lewandowski
2) Karim Benzema
3) Mason Mount
4) N’golo Kante
5) Phil Foden
Ballon D’or winner will be announced later this year, but the hype across the world for this award has already begun.
