Angelina Jolie has finally joined Instagram and has managed to gain over 4.5 million followers and counting within 14 hours, breaking the record for being the quickest Instagram account to reach a million followers.
Disturbed by the recent events in Afghanistan, the actress star said that she will use the platform to share the voices of people living in the country and also expressed concerns for the people of Afghanistan who are losing their ability to communicate or express themselves freely on social media platforms.
“I’ve come on Instagram to share their stories and the voices of those across the globe who are fighting for their basic human rights,” the actress wrote in her first post.
In her first Instagram post, Jolie shared a letter from an Afghan girl. She mentioned in the caption, “This is a letter I was sent from a teenage girl in Afghanistan. Right now, the people of Afghanistan are losing their ability to communicate on social media and to express themselves freely. So I’ve come on Instagram to share their stories and the voices of those across the globe who are fighting for their basic human rights.”

“It is sickening to watch Afghans being displaced yet again out of the fear and uncertainty that has gripped their country. To spend so much time and money, to have bloodshed and lives lost only to come to this, is a failure almost impossible to understand,” she added in her caption.
Previously, this record was held by Jennifer Aniston. The actress was awarded the Guinness World Record for being the quickest Instagram account to reach one million followers, after Aniston reached the number within five hours and 16 minutes of joining the social media platform in October 2019.
