Indian representation at the Met Gala has been prominent in the last couple of years. Several Indian icons such as Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone, and Natasha Poonawalla have made their presence on the infamous Met steps in avant-garde couture, and it has been a cultural moment for the nation.

Let’s take a look at some of the interesting red carpet moments by Indian celebrities.

Priyanka Chopra made her Met Gala debut back in 2017 wearing a custom Ralph Lauren high-slit gown, along with Nick Jonas. In 2018, the actress again made a reappearance in Ralph Lauren with a velvet gown with an embellished hood. In 2019, Chopra made an appearance with her husband, Jonas, where she wore an extravaganza silver gown by Dior, styled by Mimi Cuttrell.

Similar to Chopra, Deepika Padukone also made her Met Gala debut in 2017, where she wore a Tommy Hilfiger satin gown. In 2018, she was dressed in Prabal Gurung’s red gown. Coming to 2019, Padukone appeared in a custom Zac Posen structural princess gown with a surprising technological twist, which was covered in hundreds of 3D-printed embellishments.

In 2019, she wore a crystal-embellished mini dress with a detachable icy-blue skirt. For 2022, she donned a Sabyasachi saree along with Schiaparelli’s body piece, perfectly in line with the theme of the gala.

Mukesh Ambani’s daughter, Isha Ambani made her Met Gala debut in the year 2017 by wearing a Christian Dior olive green and beige gown. She later reappeared in 2019 wearing a lavender couture gown with embroidered feathers and beadwork.
