Bong Joon-Ho Of Parasite Fame Poises For His Next Big Feature Film
The sci-fi thriller is based on author Edward Ashton’s novel Mickey7, which got published this February
After giving the world a film like Parasite, people have high expectations from Bong Joon-Ho’s next feature film, which was announced a couple of months back. In it, Robert Pattinson will be joining him as part of the lead cast. Now, in it’s pre-production phase, the film has added new members too.
So far, most of the information around this feature has been reaching us in fits and starts. Given that it’s an exciting collaboration — between an A-lister like Pattinson and the Oscar-winning director — fans have been waiting for more details with bated breath. Thankfully, that’s where we come in. In a bid to help you (and ourselves) out, we’ve gathered all the info we possibly could on this movie right here. Check it out.
Apart from Pattinson, this movie will also star Naomi Ackie, Mark Ruffalo, and Toni Collette. Steven Yeun, who worked with Joon-Ho on his 2017 film Okja, has recently also joined the cast of the upcoming thriller.
The sci-fi thriller is based on author Edward Ashton’s novel Mickey7, which got published this February. The story centres around Mickey7, a man on a mission to populate the ice world, Niflheim.
The story also follows interesting themes of rebirth — after each death, Mickey’s body re-synthesises with most of his memories intact. It’s implied that Mickey7 is indeed the ‘seventh’ Mickey, as he explores the harsh world in front of him and discovers disturbing secrets behind his supposed ‘immortality’.
According to a report, Vice President of Film Development & Production at Warner Bros. Pictures, revealed that the project will be oversee by Peter Dodd. Joon-Ho will also produce the project under his production house, Offscreen. Dooho Choi of Kate Street Picture Company and Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner of Plan B also are on board for the film.
