Bollywood’s famous Deol family is coming together – all three generations of them – for a sequel to their much-loved family drama, Apne. Apne 2 will see three generations of the family on-screen for the first time ever with the legendary Dharmendra sharing the screen with his sons, Sunny and Bobby Deol, and grandson Karan Deol.

“With the blessings of Babaji and your love, all of us will be seen together, again. Feeling blessed to get a chance to work with my father, brother again this time with my son. #Apne2, in cinemas Diwali 2021,” Sunny Deol said while sharing the news on social media with a motion poster.

“On the auspicious day of #GuruNanak Jayanti, elated to announce #Apne2! Releasing Diwali 2021! This ones going to be extra special. Thank you so much @anilsharma_dir sir and @deepakmukut sir for making this possible,” wrote Karan Deol who made his debut in his father’s Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas in 2019 which came and went without a trace.

Apne 2 will be directed by Anil Sharma and is the second instalment of the film which will be produced by Deepak Mukut. According to media reports, the film will go on floors from March 2021 and is aiming for a Diwali release next year. Apne 2 revolves around the importance of family bonds. Apne was released in 2007 and starred Dharmendra, Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Shilpa Shetty and Katrina Kaif.

In 2011, Dharmendra reunited with his sons Bobby and Sunny Deol in the comedy movie, Yamla Pagla Deewana. They came together for Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 in 2013 and Yamla Pagla Deewana: Phir Se in 2018.
