Veere Di Wedding: Kareena Kapoor Khan Demanded What She Was Worth
Kareena Kapoor Khan is one of Bollywood’s top-billed actresses and has remained an A-lister in a career spanning over two decades. The actress is married to Saif Ali Khan and is currently expecting her second child. Their first child, Taimur Ali Khan recently turned four years old.
The actress was last seen in the 2019 comedy-drama film, Good Newwz where she starred opposite Akshay Kumar, Kiara Advani and Diljit Dosanjh. The film was a box office success and received moderate to good reviews.
Before that, Khan was seen in the Rhea Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor produced movie, Veere Di Wedding which earned over ₹1.39 billion worldwide. The film also starred Swara Bhasker, Sonam Kapoor and Shikha Talsania. However, the film didn’t manage to please the critics with veteran critic Rajeev Masand writing that the film was “largely contrived and forgettable”. However, Anna M.M. Vetticad described Veere Di Wedding as “an unapologetic commentary on the lives of women”.
Now, in the latest episode of What Women Want, Kareena Kapoor Khan had actor Anil Kapoor and director Anurag Kashyap as her guests. The actress discussed the wage gap between male and female actors in the industry. “You (Kareena) took a lot of money from me,” Anil Kapoor said immediately but Kapoor Khan laughed it off.
“Yaar, yeh toh hero se zyada paise maang rahi hai.’ Maine bola, ‘De do (‘She is demanding more money than the hero.’ I said, ‘Give it to her),” Kapoor said about Khan’s pay during Veere Di Wedding.
“They all called me up also, I said, ‘Done.’ They were calling me when the negotiations were on. I said, ‘Bebo jo maangegi, de do (Give Kareena what she wants),” he added.
