#WorstOf2017 Bollywood Scandals That Left A Bitter Taste In Our Mouth
While Bollywood stars run their business by creating drama and emotions on screen, it’s not like their lives are devoid of it. In the year 2017, we saw many scandals take place that gave us fodder for conversation, but also left us with a sour taste in our mouth.
Nawazuddin’s autobiography An Ordinary Life ran into so much controversy that he had to withdraw the book. His co-star Niharika Singh issued a statement which said, “Nawaz and I had a brief relationship in 2009 during the making of Miss Lovely that lasted less than a few months. So today, when he paints me as a woman in fur enticing him into her bedroom with candles, or desperately calling him and mailing other women on his behalf, I can only laugh. He obviously wants to sell his book and it would appear that he is willing to exploit and disrespect a woman just to do so.”
Hrithik Roshan – Kangana Ranaut
Probably the biggest controversy of this year, the Hrithik Roshan – Kangana Ranaut spat was one of the most bitter scandals in the history of Bollywood. Kangana threw a lot of muck on Hrithik in a tell-all interview on Rajat Sharma’s Aap Ki Adaalat. “I was actually in love with that person. I felt so bad, because I like writing poems, and when I was in New York, we had a really nice exchange. Sharing a personal intimacy with a person is the most beautiful thing in the world. When you share a relationship with someone. He has used those 3-4 letters, and copy-pasted them into those letters that I have not sent. You’re in a different zone, when you write those type of poems and couplets. But he used those letters to malign me, and when somebody does that, it is like a second death that you go through,” she said.
We were expecting Padmavati to release this month, but alas forces like Karni Sena ensured that that didn’t happen. Even though Sanjay Leela Bhansali went on record and said that his film didn’t hurt anybody’s sentiments and there were no romantic scenes between Alauddin Khilji and Padmavati. We hope to see the film soon, since we were incredibly impressed with the trailer.
Priyanka Chopra – Narendra Modi
Priyanka Chopra, who is making India proud on an international stage, met Narendra Modi and a lot of trolls on social media had a problem with her attire. “I don’t know why you guys give trolling so much importance but for me trolling is not news, it never has been. Trolling is just someone’s opinion and who cares about that?,” she said in an interview with India Today.
Kapil Sharma – Sunil Grover
Firangi actor Kapil Sharma and Sunil Grover (of Coffee With D fame) seemed like the best of friends who worked together to ensure the success of The Kapil Sharma Show. Their fight led to a painful split, since after that the show’s rating tanked and it had to go off air.
